Taiwanese company Pretec has introduced two new Compact Flash (CF) cards with high storage capacities.
The company announced the 64 and 100 GB 233X CF cards will have an access speed of of 35 MB/s, and the company hopes its largest CF card will help it become a household name in the United States and across Europe.
“Leaf and Pretec share a similar vision –to offer cutting edge technologies and unique products with unparalleled performance and to provide our customers with exceptional quality and satisfaction,” said Seth Greenberg, Leaf Marketing Director. “We are pleased to have chosen Pretec as our exclusive storage partner at Photokina 2008 and to witness the excitement as Pretec breaks the CF card speed and capacity world records.”
Pretec also announced higher speed 32GB and 64 GB 333X CF cards that have access speeds of a whopping 50MB/s.
Both the 64 MB CF cards can be merged to create a single 256MB solid-state drive by using Pretec's "flexible, scalable and modular SATA/PATA design."
Secure digital (SD) cards are popular among lower-end digital cameras and amateur photographers, but more experienced photographers have relied on CF cards.
The 32GB 50 MB/s card will be available for $630, 64GB 32MB/s card will be $400, and the price of the 100GB card remains unknown. The 233X 64GB card is shipping immediately, but Pretec did not say when it plans to ship its 100 GB CF card.
